Marriage Advice 101

GD Legacy Queens,
Hello and hope you all are doing well. Well, I know we have been talking about relationships lately, so I wanted to do something a little different. Today my mother and I are tag teaming and writing you all an article about marriage.
My mother has been married to my father for 23 years going on 24 in November so she has a lot to speak on when it comes to marriage. Not only that we want to add a twist to this article with giving you all some teachings on what my mother and father have learned since they have been attending marriage missionary at Abundant Living Family Church. Let’s get to it.
So, lets start off by asking the question, “Why do we hear more about love in marriage then respect?”
First, research shows that women are more expressive response in marriage. Meaning, women are more out to let their spouse know how they feel at all times. Secondly, in this culture a love-dominated society, a woman tends to talk far more about her needs for love then her husband talks about his needs for respect. Biblically there are two sides to the martial coin; love and respect. So, we need to keep in mind that we need to see both sides not only culturally but also biblically.

Now, that we are talking about the biblical ways, I want to share with you about how God commanded the husband to agape-love his wife. (1 Corinthians 13/ Ephesians 5:25, 28, 33). Also, Peter and Paul revealed that the secret for a wife is to show unconditional respect for her husband. (1 Peter 3:1,2; Ephesians 5:33). This is just merely saying that unconditional respect is as powerful to a husband as unconditional love is to a wife.
For all the married couples and soon to be married couples remember this so that your marriage will be a healthier relationship and a relationship of understanding.
